Sir Dino and Patton Oswalt listen to Maria Bamford’s new material on a Zoom call and, while watching “Dino Thunder”, blackout from too much Halloween candy, and Sarah Silverman comes knocking on the door with Nike swag big enough for a dinosaur.

In a quaint room, where the leaves rustle outside a window as if whispering long forgotten secrets, Sir Dino McRex, the time traveling dinosaur, is perched near a wooden table with his buddy Patton Oswalt. Sir Dino, eagerly anticipating the start of the scary Halloween holiday season, is in awe of the modern world, and his tiny arms are flailing with excitement.

They are huddled around an iPad, which is lying on what seems to be a vintage audio system from the 70s. Sir Dino is amazed at how the humans have evolved in technology since the last time he was here. Patton is trying to explain how the iPad works, but Sir Dino is too excited and keeps pressing the screen with his snout.

The hilarious voice of comedienne Maria Bamford fills the room through a small white spherical speaker that Sir Dino thinks looks like a dinosaur egg. They are on a Zoom video conference, and Maria is testing out her new material. Her jokes are so funny that Sir Dino’s roaring laughter shakes the leaves outside the window.

As they laugh, Sir Dino notices a vinyl record cover with “The Beatles A Hard Day’s Night” leaning against the wall. He tells Patton about how he once jammed with the Triceratops Trio, the Beatles of the Jurassic era.

Suddenly, there’s a knock on the front door. Patton goes to answer it and, to their surprise, it’s the fabulous Sarah Silverman! She’s holding an armful of gigantic Nike sportswear, and she exclaims, “Sir Dino, I heard you were in town and thought you might need some dino-sized gear to fit in with the modern crowd!”

Sir Dino’s eyes light up as he sees the sportswear. Sarah helps him put on a Nike headband, which barely fits around his massive head, and a pair of Nike sneakers on his giant and scaly feet. He feels like the coolest dinosaur in any era.

They all gather back around the iPad, where Maria has patiently been waiting to continue sharing her hilarious jokes. Patton and Sarah join in, and the room is filled with laughter and camaraderie.

Feeling grateful, Sir Dino lets out a gentle roar which, in dinosaur language, means “Thank you, friends, for this day of joy and laughter.”

While the evening progresses, they decide to celebrate with Halloween candy that Patton had stashed away. They devour chocolates, gummies and candies shaped like little dinosaurs. Sir Dino is particularly fond of the dinosaur-shaped ones, and as the sugar rush hits them, they decide to wind down by watching something on TV.

Sarah suggests watching “Dino Thunder,” a Power Rangers series, as a tribute to their dinosaur friend. They all huddle on the couch, with Sir Dino taking up most of the space. The action packed episodes of “Dino Thunder” play on the screen, and Sir Dino is fascinated to see dinosaurs and humans fighting together. He roars in approval.

Everyone is having a fantastic time, however the combination of a long day, too much candy and the cozy atmosphere takes its toll. One by one, they all start dozing off. Sir Dino McRex, his Nike headband slightly askew, is the last to fall asleep. His gentle snores are accompanied by the sounds of the Power Rangers on the screen.

Outside, the moon shines brightly as if winking at the extraordinary gathering of friends inside. The leaves rustle a lullaby and the night embraces the room where comedy, Halloween candy and the action of the Power Rangers have serendipitously come together to create a truly memorable evening of magic and friendship.
